PARA GLIDING: The art of Paragliding is a combination of 2 activities- Hang Gliding and Parachuting. A paraglider needs to run down a slope (ideally at 40 degree slant). This running downwards fills the air in the columns of the Chut (keel) allowing the glider to take off. Manali in Himachal (India) is the right place for starters and amateurs to learn Paragliding. The Solang Valley at Manali is the hub of Paragliding in India.

For more daring Paragliding is also organized all round the year at various states and places in India. Areas like Bijli Mahadev, Marhi and Fatru in Himachal Pradesh, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Auli, Nainital in Uttarakhand etc. are some of the places which have emerged as a great attraction for such events.

For the starters a span of approx 200 to 2000 Arial meters is provided under supervision of a professional instructors which keeps the command of chute in his/her hands. These flights are generally flown at a peak height of 150 to 200 ft and last between 30 seconds to 5 minutes. For more daring this may be continued to greater heights and longer flight time. Few of the above given places are conducive for all grades of aero sports including Paragliding.

HANG GLIDING: Hang gliding is done with an un-motorized glider  foot-launched in air off a high peak or towed by a boat. Hang gliding is still not considered to be very safe aero sport but more scientific advances in equipment quality and design is greatly improving the prospects of this sport world wide. The number of accidents is on a continuous decrease in recent times and has reached to a more comparable level to any other aero sport.


Suitable Weather is a most important aspect of Aero sports. When the weather conditions are perfect it is possible to stay in the air for more than three hours and rise to a height of 3000 m. mid February to mid July and mid September to end of November are the best seasons for paragliding.
